The main minerals which are found in Jaisalmer district are; Limestone, yellow Sand-stone, Yellow Marble, Lignite, fuller’s earth and bentonite.

Small hills are called magra here. In and around the city of Jaisalmer, a variety of stones are found which, in the past, were utilized by the artisans for making artistic stone trellises. Among them, black, yellow, sandy yellow, spotted, red and bichhiya stones are mostly known and generally used as building materials. The yellow chhintidar (spotted) is famous for its golden luster and silken texture, which was used as building material for many Jain temples.
