Sambhavnath Temple., Jaisalmer
The temple is dedicated to Sambhavnath the third Jain Tirathankar and was built in 1497 AD. There are about 60 small as well as big idols of Jain Tirthankars.
It is smaller and less elaborately carved. Beneath its threshold, narrow tunnels to the secret vaults, that house has a treasure of ancient manuscripts, astrological treatise and rare plan leaf text of Jain literature. It is said that the tunnel extended all the way 16km to the north, ending in corresponding vaults in the temples of Lodurva, the former capital and that the manuscript and other treasure were brought underground to the Jaisalmer temple, and were hidden away, some never having seen by anyone other than the Jain Munis of the temple and none ever having been published. This Sambhavnathji temple is unique in having a domed ceiling with superbly sculptured nymphs in dancing poses. A single male musician is included in the group.
