Lodurva, Jaisalmer
Lodurva - the former capital of the Yadavas or the Bhati rulers lies 16kms north of Jaisalmer. It is a town of high antiquity, originally Bhati Rawal Deoraj took possession of the city in the tenth century AD. The only witness to its former splendour are the Jain temples here, dating earlier than the ones in Jaisalmer. Also Moomal-ki-Meri, a ruined castle of the beauty princess Moomal, is still there to whisper the immortal love legends of Moomal-mahendra.
The jain temple belong to the eleventh century AD. Architecturally, it is a synthesis of north-southern Hindu type. Exquisitely carved pillars, porch, arch, exterior, dwarfs and Kalpa Visksha are of very high quality.
